A different kind of labor day

Shannon at Rocks in my Dryer is hosting a Labor Day party, labor as in child labor. We get to share our wonderful experiences as moms and the fun we had delivering them so here goes...

How long were your labors?

R: 4.25 hrs
C: 3.5 hrs
AD: 1.5 hrs

How did you know you were in labor?

R: I was induced.
C: Painful contractions.
AD: I was induced after I went to doctor dilated to five.

Where did you deliver?

All my children were born at the same hospital in a town 30 minutes away.

Drugs?

I had Pitocin with R and AD when I was induced. I had drugs put into my IV's with them and a shot in my hand with C but I did not have an epidural with any of them.

C-Section?

I did not have a c-section with any of them. In the words of my mother-in-law, "You must have a pelvis the size of a Mack Truck." I consider this a compliment.

Who delivered?

A OB/GYN delivered R and AD with C I had a midwife. I would have had the same midwife with AD but we had some insurance changes in our state and that didn't work out. :(

My delivery with C was pretty classic. I woke up @ 2:30 in the morning with contractions. As we were speeding along trying to get to the hospital we were pulled over by a policemen. Of course, he let us go but it was hilarious. I was having a contraction, laughing, and crying at the same time.

There was a really bad snow storm when AD was born so we decided to come stay in the "big city" at a house my husband's dad owned that my brother-in-laws were living in. One of the brothers had a party so I was up until the wee hours of the morning talking to a bunch of girls the night before I had AD.

Oh, and in case you wanted some stats on my labors I ended up with a 6 lb 1 oz baby, 9 lb 4 oz baby, and 9 lb 10 oz baby.

I am pretty sure if we would have continued we would have ended up having an 11 pound baby in the car on the side of the road. :)
