The other day while my husband was at work I was cleaning the bathroom sink and noticed that the water wasn't draining.
Well, it is a little difficult to clean the sink if you have dirty water standing in it. So I figured I would try to figure out how to fix it.
I have a "green" book that tells me different things that I can try. I looked up unclogging drains and the book said to put 1 cup baking soda down the drain followed by 1 cup vinegar. It is quite possible that everybody else already knew to do this but I didn't, it was totally new to me.
I was quite excited because I had both things on hand and I wouldn't have to go anywhere to get them. I gave it a try and to be quite honest I didn't think it was working. So I kept putting more baking soda and vinegar in the drain.
I also tried plunging it a few times.
Just about the time that my husband got home and I decided to just have him take the sink apart, my son came in to the room and told me that the sink drained.
We went into the bathroom and, lo and behold, it worked. I think I was just impatient and did not give the baking soda and vinegar time to work.
I was quite proud of myself for taking the initiative to try this and that it actually worked. I didn't have to call anybody, my husband didn't have to do it, and it only cost me $1.22 to replace the vinegar and baking soda.

Hurray for Melody! Doesn't it feel great to do something you normally would have to have the husband do? :)
