So we gave the boy a curfew

R is such a good kid. He is quite honestly rarely that much trouble. If he picked up his room, turned his homework in on time, and showered without me bugging him I might think he was an angel. :) But anyway....

A few weeks ago R went over to his friends house. He has been getting out a lot more than normal this summer. Personally I am glad. He spent a lot of time in his room by himself last year. However, on this particular night it was approximately 10:15 and I had not heard from him. He hadn't called to say he was spending the night or that he would be on his way home.

So needless to say I was a little frustrated. I called him and told him to get home right away.

We had never had to deal with this situation before. He had never stayed out this late. So we decided the boy must need a curfew. Since he is going to be a Junior we thought 11 o'clock seemed like a good curfew, so 11 it is.

I guess I didn't realize that when we said he had a curfew of 11 o'clock that meant he would decide to go over to his friends at 9:45 at night, stay for an hour, and then come home at 10:55.

But he did, and it was quite funny because when he got home he said, "I made it on time."

I guess I need to explain the part where he doesn't have to go out just to come back by 11.

How ingenius - he is making good use of all the time allocated to him :)

We used to do that. When at last we were able to be out until a curfew, we would go out just to be out. It was lovely.
