How I ruined my sister-in-law's day and why I can't get a tire for my car

Okay, remember last week when I told you that my husband had a flat tire on the way to work? Then he changed it in the middle of the night with only the light from his cell phone? Yes, he's awesome. I know.

Anyway, I have not gotten the car in to the shop to get the new tire yet. I need to because my husband is driving my van and I NEED MY VAN. Really, I have been without it for a week and I want it back desperately. So yesterday I got off my tail and took my car in to the city and went in search of a new tire.

I decided beforehand that the best deal would be for us to join Costco and get our tires there. The cost of the tire includes everything and I mean EVERYTHING. It includes pressure checks, tire balancing, tire rotations, and flat repairs. Not to mention mounting, balancing and installation. It is a super good deal. $50.00 for a membership seems small compared to what I will be getting for the next five years.

So I decided to call my sister-in-law to see if she wanted to go with me to Costco. She doesn't work on Thursdays and I thought AD and her daughter might like it. She, however, needed to go grocery shopping. I told her no problem we would go with them.

AD and I head over to their house and they follow us out to Costco. I get our membership and then go to tire sales. I tell him I need a tire for my 2004 Pontiac Grand AM SE. I looked up the tire size online and told him what it was. Well, it turns out that they have to make sure that your tires match what you have on your car so he went to look at ours. I thought we needed a 205/65R15 but I was wrong.

Apparently our car has low profile tires so what we needed was a 225/50R16. Which by the way cost $50.00 more a tire. Yeah for us. The technician and I go back inside and I find out they don't have any in stock. Great. Glad I could join to find out they have NO TIRES IN MY SIZE.

I talked to my sister-in-law and we decided to go to Wal-mart so she could do her grocery shopping. We went to the Wal-mart by Costco. Personally I love this Walmart because it is HUGE and clean and HUGE. But she normally goes to a different one. I didn't think it would be a big deal to go to a different Walmart but then again I figured everybody else shops like me. I make a list and go. My sister-in-law has her Walmart memorized so she knows exactly what she is getting and where it is. So she didn't have a list, and the Walmart was completely different, and she didn't get half the stuff she needed.

Then I felt bad because she went to that one because I was going to Costco and then I didn't get my tire.

Now for those of you who are wondering why I didn't get a tire at Walmart, I will tell you. The tire at Costco was $138.99 and it included EVERYTHING. The tire at Walmart was $140.00 and it included the tire. I would have to pay for everything else. After I checked into the Walmart tire I decided to go ahead and order it from Costco.

It will be in by Wednesday and then finally, maybe I can have my van back.

It will be heaven. :)

If you're talking about the Jordan Creek Wal-Mart and Costco... yes I agree. That Wal-Mart ROCKS. I do all my shopping there-- such a difference from the old WalMart we went to before we moved. It was older and YUCKY. The Jordan Creek Wally World is ALWAYS CLEAN.

My sister is the same way with her grocery store compared to the one by me. IT is different and she always forgets things. I make the most detailed lists, so I don't forget things.

I love Costco...we don't have a membership yet, but the closest one is 40 minutes away. Hard to justify it.

AArrghh - don't you hate those days where you have a series of things planned with complete pecision and they all seem to fall in a heap - thus, leaving everyone feeling tired and cranky by the end of the day :)
